Conference Awards


    The Georgia Safety, Health and Environmental Conference and the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers invite you to join us in celebrating Georgia's Best of the Best! We would love to have your company or employer and its employees recognized during our Awards Luncheon Ceremony. There will be no more than five Award Recipients, so tell us about your successes. If selected as a recipient of one of these awards, a representative from the employer or company is required to attend the conference to receive the award. One person's regular conference registration will be paid by the Georgia Chapter of the ASSE. Travel and lodging are not included, discounted rates are available through the conference website - hotel registration.

    About the Application

    DEADLINE: The Conference Awards Committee will review and make recommendations to the Conference Board regarding award applications received on or by July 6, 2017. Award recipients will be announced and notified by July 15, 2017.

    You must tell us about your program! We only know what you share with us. A well-written, inclusive narrative is important. Narratives provided in the application should include safety, health, or environmental program information which provides a clear, concise overview of the organizational efforts in the improvement of the workplace or community. Information on the history of the organization that clearly shows organizational SHE improvement trends and patterns will be of benefit. This can include quantitative information as warranted, such as recordable injury multi-year data based the OSHA recordable injury rate and DART rate (Days, Away, Restrictions and Transfers).

    You may also nominate a person for the Distinguished Safety Advocate Award. This is for a person whose primary responsibility is not that of a safety director or manager. It is for an employee to takes it upon himself or herself to help protect other workers and the employer for injury or loss. This person should be able to attend the conference as a greater reward and to help enhance personal knowledge of procedures, best practices, etc. Tell us why you are proud of your workplace and fellow employees! Be inclusive but please limit the application to no more than two pages. Excerpts may be used in conference publications. A photo will be required if your application results in an award. Photos with people make a better impact than just a sign or building. The photo will be required by July 20, 2017. Please plan accordingly.

    Application Review

    The Awards Committee will review all application narrative responses to determine the applicant’s eligibility for an award. The Awards Committee reserves the right to request additional information as warranted to clarify any questions that may develop during the review. All applications will be treated confidentially, and by submitting an application, the organization gives permission for the Georgia Conference to review its information. Each award recipient will receive one (1) complimentary conference registration funded by the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

    The Awards Committee will provide details on the awards program schedule when notifying award recipients. Each award winner will be recognized at the Conference and through Conference program materials.

    All information must be received by no later than July 6, 2017

    (1) Company name as you want it to appear on the award

    (1a) Name and job title of employee if applying for Distinguished Advocate Award

    (2) Contact person's name, title and phone number. (for all notifications)

    (3) Contact person's email address (All correspondence will be to this email address)

    (4) Physical Address of the facility and mailing address, if different

    (5) Number of 8 hour days or shifts in 2016 and/or before with no lost time incidents

    (6) Narrative telling us about your program, workforce and successes meriting an award

    Email your completed application to Expect a receipt notice. If you do not get a receipt notice within 24 hours, please send a separate email requesting affirmation or explanation. Please assure you can receive email from this email address.
